This year’s convention season brings with it tons of cool exclusives from collectible companies of all kinds, and one of our favorites is always WizKids and their incredible HeroClix offerings. Each year they delve into new territories with unique characters, cool game mechanics, and more with their Convention Exclusive Limited Edition figures, and 2016 is no different. Their huge list of offerings this time around include for-purchase items like 1966 Surfing Batman with Shark and Batman with Bomb, the DC TV Arrow Pack, Marvel’s Punisher Van, and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Turtle Van. Meanwhile, players at WizKids’ events can participate in tournaments to win prize figures like Shredder, Casey Jones, Ace the Bathound, Kingdom Come Red Robin and Hawkman, Rocket Raccoon & Groot, and Man-Spider. Joining that incredible lineup is one more figure that we have the pleasure of unveiling today: Marvel HeroClix Cosmic Daredevil!
Chosen by the Uni-Power to become a temporary Captain Universe, Matt Murdock joins the ranks of previous “Cosmic” HeroClix figures Spider-Man, Hulk, X-23, and Tamara Devoux. Each one brought a cool new look (not to mention power set) to the hero and Daredevil gets a really cool sculpt featuring the empowered hero flying upward with a backdrop of the Uni-Power energy. Murdock’s costume is white from the chest down while the upper portion resembles a star field, and of course it comes complete with his trademark devil horns! The translucent energy effect appears to be based on the one from the Avengers Assemble set Captain Universe (which looked awesome), though we’ll have to wait until we see the figure in person to know for sure.
Cosmic Daredevil is 180 points, making him the second least expensive Captain Universe figure just ahead of Tamara at 165. For just over half of your 300 point build this version of Matt Murdock has the Power Cosmic team ability, Flight, a nice 7 range with two targets, and the “Uni-Vision Radar Sense” trait letting him use Precision Strike and an enhanced Super Senses that succeeds on 4-6 AND isn’t foiled by enemies’ Precision Strike! His stats are strong and very consistent across the board, and his power set is fantastic. Daredevil’s first four clicks feature Running Shot, Toughness, and a special attack power that’s essentially a ranged Quake reaching out 4 squares and ignoring line of fire. Then he switches to Hypersonic Speed and Invulnerability for his last three clicks, while Probability Control overlaps and appears on every click but the first and last. Daredevil even has the Marvel Knights keyword to go with his usual Martial Artist and Cosmic, the Captain Universe standard.
You can win Cosmic Daredevil and all of the other amazing 2016 Convention Exclusive figures from WizKids by participating in official HeroClix events this convention season. It all kicks off this weekend (April 23-24) with the Mexican and Italian National Championships and will be sweeping the world with WizKids Opens, lots more Nationals, and of course the World Championships. Get all the info on these big events at HeroClix.com and the WizKids Info Network.
