The Armored Avenger In Beautiful Bust Form...

Iron Man collectors continue to find fan-favorite pieces piling up on their shelves thanks to Sideshow Collectibles. The manufacturer and retailer of some of the finest pop culture collectibles has recently released a beautifully designed, sculpted and painted Legendary Scale Bust complete with "light up" feature which is sure to impress both fans and non-fans alike. PACKAGING

Like other Legendary Scale busts and many of Sideshow's fine statues, the Iron Man - Mark VI Legendary Scale Bust comes in a large, durable and impressively designed package featuring the "Avengers" logo on one side, an eye-catching triangle-shaped ARC reactor on the other and the red and yellow colors of the Iron Man armor. The package features a simple, elegant design that perfectly complements the contents inside and teases as to what's in store without ever having to open the box. Inside, the single-piece bust, removable chest plate, and 3 'AA' batteries are all securely held in place thanks to a two-piece, form-fitting and durable Styrofoam interior.

SCULPT

With a design by Raul Osorio based on the original specs of the Mark VI armor as seen in the Marvel films, this impressive 1:2 bust comes to life thanks to Idol Workshop and The Sideshow The Sideshow Collectibles Design and Development Team. Beautifully capturing the elegant lines of layered armor plates which comprise the impressively made Mark VI, this bust dynamically captures the power and feel of the Iron Man armor.

Straying from the traditional bust design which typically include only the head, neck and chest of a character, the Iron Man - Mark VI Legendary Bust includes the right arm of Iron Man, clenched in a fist, as well. The addition of the right arm not only adds physical size to the bust, but contributes attitude as well, providing fans with the feeling Iron Man is ready to strike.

Maybe the most impressive sculpting on the bust isn't the armor at all, but what's under the armor. Again, unlike traditional busts, this piece includes a removable chest plate which reveals the armor's undercarriage - if you will. This undercarriage includes the layers of wiring, slides and levers and smaller plates which spin, slide and roll into place and lock Tony Stark into the Iron Man armor. Likewise, the removable chest plate reveals the triangular ARC reactor, something designed by Stark in Iron Man 2.

PAINT APPLICATIONS

Thanks to amazing paint work by artist Anthony Mestas, the impressive sculpt features screen-accurate colors beautifully realized in 1:2 scale. The metallic red, gold and silver armor plates look sleek and smooth while silver scuffs add depth and detail. These silver marks which scour the armor plates’ surfaces throughout provide a slightly used, battle damaged look which makes the bust look all the more screen accurate and realistic.

LIGHT UP FEATURE

The Iron Man - Mark VI Legendary Scale Bust includes not one, not two, but three unique light up features: the eyes, the palm (repulsor ray) and the chest ARC reactor. Each is controlled by a single "on/off" switch on the back of the bust's base (below).

All three brightly shine when engaged and light up well, providing an impressive display. Something worth noting is the chest light -which represents the ARC reactor - shines brightly not just with the chest armor plate off, but also through the removable chest piece thanks to a translucent piece of durable plastic. This allows the ARC reactor light to be visible both with and without the chest plate in place, something collectors will appreciate for multiple display options.

COST & OVERALL IMPRESSION

With a retail price of $350, the Iron Man - Mark VI Legendary Scale Bust will most likely appeal to die-hard Iron Man and Avengers fans; casual fans may avoid the higher price. That said, die hard who purchase this are getting an amazing piece that'll no doubt attract the eye of all who see it. At 1:2 scale (approx. 16" high, 14" wide and 10" deep), the bust captures one of the most popular characters in the Marvel U in all of high screen-accurate, armored glory. Truly a work of art, the Iron Man - Mark VI Legendary Scale Bust will make a fine addition to any fan's collection and display.
