Snake Plissken, Ghostface, Leatherface, More...
NECA has found great success with their retro 8-inch Mego-style action figure line. What started off with horror heavy hitters Freddy Krueger and Jason Voorhees to test the waters, the series has filled out to include second-tier characters like "Sack Head" Jason and a Deadite version of Evil Dead II's Ash. Even rock n' roll legends have joined in the fun, such as The Misfits and Iron Maiden's undead mascot, Eddie.
San Diego Comic-Com revealed that NECA is taking the retro series even deeper, introducing some true cult classics to the mix. Chainsaw wielding scream great Leatherface made his public debut with a grisly cool diorama display (October release) as did the masked killer of the Scream franchise, Ghostface (also available in October). Two of the most surprising entires were Snake Plissken from the 1981 film Escape from New York, and George Taylor from Planet of the Apes. Snake stars the likeness of actor Kurt Russell and comes with a removable jacket, holster belt, and enough weaponry to take down a small army. NECA's George Taylor features the first Charlton Heston likeness on a POTA toy. Taylor wears his astronaut uniform and comes with a removable backpack that opens. Look for Snake Plissken this November with George Taylor following in December.
