Collectible Books of Alien and Game of Thrones...

Tucked away in Sideshow's massive Comic-Con booth was a display showcasing two new books from Insight Editions. The company is responsible for fine art books, such as the recently released Godzilla: The Art of Destruction (read our review HERE) and Capturing Archetypes: Twenty Years of Sideshow Collectibles Art (HERE). Unlike those two volumes, however, Insight Editions' new volumes are not only fascinating reads, but actual collectibles.

To reflect their more collectible nature (and higher price point), ALIEN: THE WEYLAND-YUTANI REPORT and GAME OF THRONES: A POP-UP GUIDE TO WESTEROS are being produced by a new division called Insight Collectibles.

Priced at $325, Alien: The Weyland-Yutani Report (9.25 x 11, 160 pages + 8-page gatefold) features a wealth of inserts and removable items, including security cards, notes written by key characters, clandestine Weyland-Yutani paperwork, and much, much more. Most exciting, this collectors’ edition also comes with a groundbreaking sculpted Alien head cover and acylic stand for display.

Game of Thrones: A Pop-Up Guide to Westeros (9.25 x 11, 5 Spreads + 33 pops), retailing for $595, packs even more goodies. In addition to being a stunning pop-up book paper engineered by world-renowned pop-up artist Matthew Reinhart, the book includes a one-of-a-kind, custom astrolabe (pictured below), inspired by the show’s iconic opening sequence. This unique Game of Thrones collectible includes fully moveable, independently rotating rings and a sculpted stand featuring the four iconic sigils of the Stark, Targaryen, Lannister, and Baratheon houses.
