More Veritechs On The Way & New Action Figures...
As HUGE fans of Robotech since 1985 we’re always eager to see (and get our hands on) new collectibles featuring the awesome mecha and iconic characters from the show. Toynami has been doing outstanding work on the license for some time, and at New York Toy Fair 2016 we got to see and hear about what’s next for the property. The most immediate thing is the next set of 30th Anniversary Blind Box Figures (codenamed Series 1.5). Comprised of cool repaints like stealth versions, alternate Veritechs, and pilot Max Sterling figures, this set is available for pre-order now and should be hitting the U.S. in the next several weeks.
The big news, of course, is the line of 4 inch action figures that we first glimpsed at last year’s San Diego Comic-Con! These were on display in the Toynami showroom at Toy Fair and up close they look amazing. Of course these are just prototypes and the final versions will vary (Max will almost certainly have his glasses, natch), but for all of us longtime fans it’s a dream come true to get high quality, great looking figures of our favorite characters with solid articulation in a scale that’s perfect for 80s properties. We also got to see some early prototype artwork for the cards and that too looked hot. Toynami is working on this first wave to arrive sometime in the Fall and they’re looking at keeping the price down to $15 or less per figure, which is awesome. And, what you see here is just the first planned wave...
In other news, Veritech plushes are currently available, and down the line Toynami is looking at making chibi plush versions of Minmei and the pilot characters. There are also more plans for the transformable 1/100 scale Veritechs including more Fast Packs, anniversary sets, redecos, and more so stay tuned for more news as we get it!
