In addition to Hasbro’s line-up of action figures to support Sony’s THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN film release, Mega Bloks has stepped in with their very own line of building sets and toys. There’s a wider variety of building sets that can be found in your stores now, but today we’ll take a look at one of the items in their Motor Vehicles Assortment for you kiddies ages six and up, The Spider-Man Speeder.
No, of course Spider-Man didn’t have a car in The Amazing Spider-Man movie, but wouldn’t it be cool if he did? Why does Batman get all the fun? And besides, kids love superheroes and they do love their cars so this is a perfect set. The Spider-Man Speeder comes with a Spider-Man micro action figure that is completely poseable and quite honestly, really really fun. We’ll talk more about him later.
The speeder itself consists of about 60 parts that snap together simply enough. The illustrated guide (in color!) makes each step easy to follow but it would certainly help to arrange your pieces first on a wide-open table.
After you snap your vehicle together you’re not quite done yet. There’s a few decals to apply first that add some pizzazz that only Spidey can get away with. There was one tiny piece that I wasn’t able to find and that was the left turn light piece. It’s not that big of a deal though since you’ll end up with a few extra pieces in most of your sets so I was able to complete it that way. Either way though, best to make sure you’re in a good open space to prevent the loss of any pieces.
The included Spider-Man figure is a great little figure. It’s like a toddler to your normal Star Wars figure but it still sports an amazing 12 points of articulation. His limbs pop on and off easy enough so if you wanted to swap parts with other figures, that’s certainly an option! I personally have yet to play “Frankenstein” but looking forward to it now.
Spider-Man fits inside his Speeder comfy enough and if you are having trouble, simply pop off the windshield and snap it back on later. You can do that!
The Spider-Man Speeder should run you between $12-14 at your local retailer and as I mentioned before, should be available now. This is a really fun toy. Highly recommended.
