Tony Stark's VERY Extensive Hall of Armors...
Play Imaginative has slowly been making waves in the Iron Man collecting community with their multiple announcements of new Super Alloy die-cast figures in both 1/12th (approximately 6 inches) and 1/4th (18"+) scales. Fans have seen a few releases so far, but what's to come is quite staggering. On display at New York Comic Con was a HUGE booth filled to the brim with Tony Stark's many armors from all three films - the good chunk coming from Marvel's Iron Man 3 when Stark initiates the "House Party Protocol". 1/4th scale are reserved for serious fans who like their armors big and heavy, each impressive figure running in the $600 range. The 1/2th scale is where I feel the majority of collectors will flock to, their more accessible $100 price tag allowing collectors to amass more armors. And what a variety of armors there will be!
YesAnime.com, the North American distributor for Play Imaginative's Iron Man Super Alloy collection, is currently accepting pre-orders on the first batch of figures (both scales) due for release in early December. These include 1/12th Iron Man Mark 42, Warmachine MKII and Iron Patriot, as well as 1/4th scale Starboost and Warmachine MKII. These figures, however, are just the tip of the iceberg. Name an armor and it was on display at NYCC. Some of my favorites including Whiplash and the Iron Monger, as well as the more obscure "House Protocol" armors, many of which I never knew even existed, such as Disco, Fiddler and Hammer Head. Next year, going well into 2015 is going to be huge for this series. Prepare some display space... you're gonna need it!
