PHOTO REVIEW: Gaming Heads Fallout 3 Vault Boy Bobblehead Collection - SERIES 2

Over 65 New Images of the Second 7 Figure Set...

After only a month from when pre-orders opened, Gaming Heads has released their second series of Fallout 3 Vault Boy Bobbleheads. Like last year's Series 1 (read our review HERE), Series 2 delivers seven (7) new Fallout 3 Skills: Speech, Charisma, Unarmed, Barter, Explosives, Sneak and Intelligence. These are being sold through gamingheads.com individually priced at $14.99 each or together as a slightly marked down 7-pack at $79.99.

For anyone that has played Fallout 3 (it's only my favorite video game), Skills were character upgrades that advanced your ability to do certain things in-game (ie: Explosives made you more proficient with grenades). They were also represented as physical bobbleheads you had the option of finding in the game world as a sidequest; collecting all 20 bobbleheads unlocking an achievement (similar to my obsession with collecting garden gnomes, though I received no achievement). Gaming Heads' Fallout 3 Vault Boy Bobblehead Collection captures just that, Series 2 bringing the grand total to 14 bobbleheads released with only 6 more to go.

Those that have never played Fallout 3 will no doubt find these silly. As someone that got lost in the world of Fallout 3 for months, this collection of Vault Boy bobbleheads is a dream come true. They are also an investment, the annual turnaround for each wave to arrive an unbearable wait for those that want a complete collection now. Still, with the release of Series 2, my custom Fallout 3 bobblehead display shelf looks that much fuller and this Fallout 3 fan couldn't be happier.

My only complaint with Series 2 is their slightly larger size. Where Series 1 came in at approximately 5 inches tall, Series 2 measures around a quarter inch taller. Normally I wouldn't complain about receiving a larger collectible, but there is a matter of consistency when dealing with a series of the same thing. That and my custom display shelf took a hit; I had to cram poor Intelligence's head down just to fit.

Regardless, Fallout 3 fans will be delighted with Gaming Heads' latest bobblehead release. Sculpts - as simple as they may be - are dead on. Best of all, finally owning a piece of your favorite video game like this is priceless.
