Fantasy met reality as actor Clark Gregg, a.k.a. Agent Phil Coulson from the Iron Man films and Marvel Entertainment’s upcoming movies Thor and The Avengers, and engineers from leading defense technology company, Raytheon Sarcos, unveil a real-life exoskeleton suit in conjunction with the debut of IRON MAN 2 on DVD and Blu-ray.
Paramount Home Entertainment went behind-the-scenes at the Raytheon Sarcos research facility in Salt Lake City to demonstrate the power of the company's new exoskeleton suit, XOS 2. Reminiscent of billionaire genius Tony Stark's high-tech robotic suit in Iron Man 2, the XOS 2 is essentially a wearable robot that amplifies its wearer's strength, endurance and agility. The super-human XOS 2 is built from a combination of sensors, actuators and controllers and enables a user to easily carry a man on his back or lift 200 pounds several hundred times without tiring. XOS 2 is also agile enough to let its wearer kick a soccer ball, punch a speed bag, or climb stairs and ramps with ease. Designed to assist deployed soldiers, the XOS 2 could be in the field in as little as five years.
